2020-2021 Emerging Leaders Program
The Texas Association for Humanistic Education and Development (TAHEAD) Emerging Leaders Program was developed to provide graduate counseling students and new professionals cultivating experiences that support leadership competency and skill development, and diverse opportunities to actively engage in TAHEAD Executive Board Meetings, serve on committees or task forces, engage in projects of interest, receive mentorship, build professional networks, and establish a professional identity as a servant leader.
Two Emerging Leaders will be selected to serve for the 2020-2021 year (July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021). Master’s level students, doctoral level students, and new professionals (within their first two years of full-time employment) are eligible to apply and must be a TAHEAD member at the time of application. Each emerging leader will be expected to provide a minimum of 30 hours of service to the division. Additionally, they will be asked to contribute regularly to the TAHEAD Newsletter about their experiences in the organization. In exchange for this service, each emerging leader will receive a free conference registration for the Texas Counseling Association Professional Growth Conference (PGC). At the PGC, emerging leaders will work closely with TAHEAD board members participating in division governance activities and volunteering at the membership booth to promote division activities and initiatives and recruit new members.
Interested applicants should submit the following items to Dr. Joshua C. Watson at joshua.watson@tamucc.edu by October 21, 2019:
- A cover letter describing the applicants’ interest in the position
- Copy of a current curriculum vitae
- Verification of TCA and TAHEAD membership
- Two letters of reference (letters cannot come from members of the selection committee)
