Call for Programs Open Until 12/2!
The Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA) is seeking program proposals for the 21st Annual Professional School Counselor Conference, scheduled for February 1–3, 2026, in Fort Worth. The conference aims to provide professional development for counselors serving elementary and secondary students, focusing on topics such as ethics, child and adolescent counseling, student development, group work, at-risk youth, administration and leadership, crisis response, wellness, technology and innovation. Proposals should align with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, ensuring they meet the statutory requirements established in Texas Education Code §33.005. This model serves as a guide for creating, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive school counseling programs, emphasizing the importance of a data-driven approach and the integration of counselors into the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
In addition to aligning with the Texas Model, proposals must adhere to any new legislation impacting the role of school counselors in Texas. For instance, recent discussions among Texas school counselors have highlighted the impact of Senate Bill 12 (SB12) and mandated reporting requirements on their work. Proposals should demonstrate an understanding of such legislative changes and their implications for school counseling practices. Presenters are encouraged to submit proposals that offer evidence-based strategies, practical tools, and innovative approaches to address the evolving needs of students and the educational community. By aligning with these guidelines, presenters can contribute to a conference that supports the professional growth of school counselors and enhances the quality of counseling services provided to students across Texas.
The call for programs closes on December 2, 2025. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Natalie@txca.org.
