The Mental Health Professionals Loan Repayment Program - newly funded with $14 M per year - is open for applications and will stay open.

The purpose of the Mental Health Professionals Loan Repayment Program is to encourage mental health professionals to practice in a Mental Health Professional Shortage Area (MHPSA) and provide services to individuals, groups, and families to help them manage and overcome their mental health challenges. Eligible applicants may receive loan repayment amounts up to $16,000, depending on the type of mental health profession. For more details, review Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 23, Subchapter D.

During the 88th Texas Legislative session, the program eligibility was expanded to include school psychologists, state hospitals and local Mental Health Authorities not located in a MHPSA. For more information on the program requirements and a hyperlink to the application, visit the Mental Health Professionals Loan Repayment Program webpage.
